...and the next thing we knew was...

And the next thing we knew was that we had a 1996 16' Spirit Deluxe Casita in our garage. In pieces. Many pieces. With the shell separated from the frame.
We're sitting here kind of watching the Superbowl, with queso dip, drinking Shiner Bock beer. Celebrating some tasty Texas things... also an appropriate tribute to our find from Rice. How did we get here?

A friend of ours gutted a trailer and redid the inside completely prior to a long adventure around the US. When she did that, Tracie started to daydream. In her web surfing, she narrowed down her dreaming to fiberglass shell models. Resale value, cuteness, and all of the typical factors. Peter was leafing through our local Craigslist, and found a Casita for sale. We went over to have a look at it, and decided to buy it. We knew that it had some things that would need to be done on it, but didn't quite expect how much.

Why this blog? We've enjoyed reading other people's Casita blogs, and all of the information available on the various forums. But, there's almost too much information to weed your way through. We're going to use this blog as a way to share what we're doing, and hopefully also harvest comments and ideas from those that know more than we do. We're both pretty handy/crafty, so we have the basic skills for most parts of what we'll be doing, but there are others out there who have already done it before. We have a lot of decisions to make, and would like to interact with the loyal community that Casitas seem to have.

So, with that... we'll end this first post. The next one we'll try to start a bit closer to the beginning and work our way up to the present.
